Biography
Arturo Gaytan Covarrubias is Innovation and Sustainability Manager at the Innovation and Development Center CEMEX Mexico for the Readymix Concrete Business, where he has held various positions for more than 20 years. He has been President of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) South & Central Mexico Chapter and Founder of the ACI Northwest and Southeast Mexico Chapters. He is Treasurer of the AMIC (Mexican Readymix Concrete Association. He is certified as an ENVISION Sustainability Professional, EDGE Expert and LEED Green Associate.

Arturo has received recognition from the IEC International Electrotechnic Commission as a Young Professional in Australia and recognition from the American Concrete Institute as a Young Member for Professional Achievement. In 2018 he received the category of Fellow of the American Concrete Institute and the Chapter Award for his professional activities throughout Mexico. In 2021 he received the Henry C. Turner Medal for his activities in Latin America and in 2023 the Henry L Kennedy award, being the first and only Mexican to receive these awards from the ACI. In 2023 he was appointed Director on the Board of Direction of ACI International. He is a member of the Review Subcommittee of the Mexico City Building Code. He has global awards from Cemex in Sustainability, Innovation and Customer Centricity in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Arturo is a Civil Engineer graduated from UNAM. He has a master's degree in Engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology. Recently he has completed the Innovation and Sustainability programs at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
