Biography
Mike has 34 years of experience in the planning, design, construction supervision, project management and financial analysis of bulk water supply and water resource infrastructure. He has been involved with integrated water resource management (IWRM) and related project coordination and management of a wide range of water resource and bulk water infrastructure related studies. Mike has also been responsible for the development of bulk infrastructure masterplans and water resource and catchment management strategies. At Aurecon Mike was a Technical Director responsible for water resource planning and management and also the Global Client Director for Water.
Currently as Director: Bulk Services for the City of Cape Town, Mike is responsible for Bulk Water Supply to the City of Cape Town, Wastewater Treatment and Catchment Stormwater and River Management. He is responsible for the implementation of the New Water Programme under the City of Cape Town’s Water Strategy.
He is a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and holds several degrees including a master's in business administration (2000) from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town as well as a bachelor's degree in civil engineering (1985) and a honours degree in business economics from the University of Pretoria (1992).
