Biography
Carlos Cosín is the Chief Executive Officer of Almar Water Solutions, where he leads the company’s operations and strategic development, driving its growth and success in the global water sector.
With 30 years of experience in the water industry, Mr. Cosín has been instrumental in developing desalination, wastewater, and water reuse projects worldwide for both municipal and industrial applications. Throughout his career, he has successfully closed agreements under EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) models.
Before joining Almar Water Solutions, he held CEO and senior executive positions at Abengoa, Veolia, and US Filter, where he played a key role in the development and execution of large-scale water projects.
He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Madrid Polytechnic University. Beyond his leadership at Almar Water Solutions, Mr. Cosín served as President of the International Desalination Association (IDA) from 2019 to 2022. He continues to support the organization—now known as the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA)—as First Vice President and Board Member.
Additionally, he serves as President of the Center for Water & Climate Adaptation at IE University, promoting educational programs that prepare the next generation of water industry professionals, emphasizing the critical role of education in sustainable water management and climate change adaptation.
Mr. Cosín is fluent in Spanish and English.
